My Work
My name is Sylvia Loomis and my passion is taking portraits of puffins and flowers. Puffins have a regal and distinct appearance that I accentuate by surrounding them with a creative and uncluttered painterly background.
With flowers, I like to focus on a unique feature that makes them special and enclose them with a calming interpretationl
Artist's Statement
My interest in puffins started after my second trip to Machias Island in 2022.
Viewing the stills, I realized my ambition to highlight what makes the puffins so special. I create, through post processing, a series of stories using idealized backgrounds that suit their majestic appearance. I am very influenced by the diminishing number of puffins in the world today.
Time spent in nature elevates our mood and calms us and I hope people will experience these feelings when they look at my art.
